Washington Update: You Thought 2012 Was Exciting? Wait Until You See What Washington Has In Store for 2013!
From tax reform that threatens to reduce the availability and utility of retirement plans to reviewing the very definition of an ERISA fiduciary, 2013 may be a year of fundamental change for retirement plans and IRAs. As if that isn't enough, 2013 will also bring us a flurry of activity by Federal and state regulators scrambling to implement health care reform, from setting up state exchanges to finalizing rules affecting the benefit requirements and penalties applicable to employers. Mr. Campbell will provide an overview of the legislation and regulations that could change the way your plans and plan clients operate, including tax reform, health reform, DOL's fiduciary regulation, new potential restrictions on IRA rollovers, and new rules on target date funds, lifetime income, brokerage windows, and more.

Bradford P. Campbell, counsel at Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP, advises financial service providers and plan sponsors on ERISA Title I issues, including fiduciary conduct and prohibited transactions. A nationally-recognized figure in employer-sponsored retirement plans, Brad is the former Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employee Benefits and head of the Employee Benefits Security Administration.
As ERISA's former "top cop" and primary federal regulator, he provides his clients with insight and knowledge across a broad range of ERISA-plan related issues. He also serves as an expert witness in ERISA litigation. Brad was listed as one of the 100 Most Influential Persons in Defined Contribution by 401kWire in 2011.
